Who loves pizza?? ππΌ Well here is a quick and easy way to whip up an amazing pizza right in the comfort of your own home any time you want. This Cast Iron Skillet Pizza recipe will have you making pizza like a pro in no time!π©πΌβπ³
GET YOUR CAST IRON PAN READY
First things first. Pre-heat your oven to 500Β° with your cast iron pan in the oven and leave it in there while you are making the sauce and the pizza.
PREPPING THE DOUGH
The very first thing you want to do is remove your pizza dough from the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before you are planning on cooking. This will make for a much easier time stretching the pizza dough and getting the shape you want. Just turn your pizza dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and with lightly floured fingers form the dough into a ball by tucking the ends underneath. Allow to rest and warm up a bit while you are making the pizza sauce.
MAKING THE PIZZA SAUCE
Next, onto the sauce. This pizza sauce is so simple and is FULL of flavor. Once you make it, I doubt you will be using the jarred sauces anymore.
Pour your tomatoes into a bowl; liquid and all. Then if you prefer (as I do), use a small paring knife to cut off and discard the stem ends from the tomatoes. Once you have done that, then with clean hands crush the tomatoes up really good; you should end up with small tomato pieces.
Next, add the olive oil and garlic to a saucepan and cook on medium heat until the garlic becomes fragrant but before it starts to brown. Turn the heat down to low and spoon in a few spoons of the tomatoes at a time until the splattering stops then continue cooking it over medium-medium high heat. FYI I would not wear a white shirt, just sayinβ! π€¦πΌββοΈπ
Cook the sauce until it thickens. Should only take about 8 minutes until you can pull a spoon through it like thisβ¦
Remove from the heat and set asideβ¦now for the fun part! This makes enough sauce for 3-4 pizzaβs depending on how saucy you like yours. Just freeze the rest in a plastic bag or container for your next pizza night. ππΌββοΈ
MAKING THE PIZZA
Move your rested pizza dough onto a lightly oiled surface then, with a bit of oil on your fingers to prevent sticking, start working the dough out into a circle, rotating as needed until the dough is about 1″ larger all around than your cast iron skillet.
Remove your cast iron skillet from the oven and carefully oil the bottom and sides. Move the formed pizza dough into the pan; you will hear some sizzling β this is good, itβs forming your amazing crust!
Next, with a large spoon, sauce that baby up! And of course, leave room around the edges for your crust!
Then, layer on your cheese or cheeses π and a sprinkle of oregano and into the oven your cast iron skillet pizza goes!
Bake for about 10 minutes until the crust is a beautiful golden brown and voilΓ !
You just made a show-stopping, delicious pizza in no time flat! AND I just love this Staub Cast Iron griddle pan for this; perfect size!
And donβt you just love the bits of crunchy cheese on the crust!!!β€οΈππ§
Now all there is left to do is to slice this cast iron skillet pizza up, grab your beverage of choice, and feast away on your amazing pizza!
