Pumpkin spice and everything nice – right? Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix is a great staple to have on hand. No need to go out and buy a jar, you probably have most, if not all of the spices needed already in your kitchen. All you need is: cinnamon, ground cloves, ground ginger, nutmeg and allspice.
Now about allspice. It’s a spice in it’s own right, not a mixture off “all spices”. Evidently waaaaaaay back in the day (We’re talking 1600’s) it got it’s name because it tasted like a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Nope, nope, nope. It’s its very own spice. 🙃
However, when you mix allspice with all of these other amazing spices BAM! It is one pretty amazing combination of flavors and aromas. And just look at these colors; gorgeous!
Uses for Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix
Don’t for a second think that you’ll get all these spices, mix them together, throw it in your spice drawer and forget about it. Au contraire mon frère. (Love to pretend I learned a little something in all of my French classes! 😂) You will be taking this out again and again. You’ll use it in way more recipes than you can imagine, least of which will be pumpkin pie. To be honest, I use this spice mix for a ton of recipes. Hardly ever pumpkin pie!
Stir it into oatmeal, sprinkle it onto a piping hot sweet potato or for sweet potato fries. It’s an amazing substitute for plain cinnamon when making French Toast (pain perdu 😉) or turn this Honey Cinnamon Latte into a Pumpkin Spice Latte! Whoop!

Love using Pumpkin Pie Spice in a variety of recipes. My favorite use for breakfast is to add to cooked rice and raisins. Then add a little milk and top off with Pumpkin Pie Spice mix, no need for sugar. Another tasty treat is to add to coffee and teas for enjoying during those cold evenings.
