Honey Cinnamon Latte

Honey Cinnamon Latte

Meet your new favorite coffee drink: the Honey Cinnamon Latte.

This Honey Cinnamon Latte is my go-to when I need a quick pick-me-up or something comforting.  And what is more comforting and relaxing than the smell of cinnamon, am I right?? πŸ’πŸΌ Plus you can make it lickety-split and the combination of the cinnamon, honey and sweet-syrupy espresso…Mmmmm… πŸ˜‹

I am a devout lover of all things coffee.  I think I would give up food before I would give up coffee. (EDIT: I would give up food before coffee!! πŸ™ƒ) I even have an entire Pinterest board devoted to my love of all things coffee…

How my coffee addiction began…

Funny thing is, I never even drank coffee until after I had my daughter…mommy exhaustion must have pushed me to it!  Either that, or the fact that I had just moved to Chicago from Florida in the winter and it was FREEZING outside.  Now I am in love, love, love with my daily coffee.  As soon as I wake up everyday, I take my zombie-like, half-awake walk directly into my kitchen, get the water in my kettle warming up and my espresso brewing…then, and only then, do I go on and start about my day.  I may actually be a borderline junkie… and I may be turning my fellow co-workers into one as well.   This pretty much sums up how I feel about coffee.

For the love of coffee

Now it is true, that for the most part I just drink, what most would consider, plain old coffee on a day-to-day basis.  More specifically, I drink Americano’s. Even more specifically, cafΓ¨ Americano’s.  Rumor has it that caffΓ¨ Americano’s are Italy’s version of American coffee.   Supposedly, back in World War II American serviceman would dilute their espresso with water.  Regardless of its origin, it’s a great way to enjoy your morning coffee.  β˜•️  Give it a try: make two shots of espresso and then fill up your cup with hot water.  IMHO (In my humble opinion) it just has a much more robust, richer flavor than that of traditional drip coffee.

Every now and then however, I want something a little different. Who doesn’t?  One day I was having brunch at a nearby restaurant and saw this on the menu and figured I’d give it a try.  I was a little worried that it was going to be too sweet.  I took that first sip and πŸ˜ Oh wow!! This is AmAzInG!!  not too sweet at all, and the honey and cinnamon together… oh my.  Right after brunch, I walked straight home and tried to recreate this delicious coffee drink.  Pretty much hit the nail on the head – here is what I came up with:

How to make a Honey Cinnamon Latte

Everything you need for a Honey Cinnamon Latte

You will need the following ingredients: milk (I used skim here), espresso, honey and cinnamon.  That’s it.  If you do not have an espresso machine, fear not, you can use very strong coffee.  I would recommend using a french press if you have one, otherwise, if you use regular coffee make it very strong.

Let’s get this latte made!  First things first, you need to get your espresso machine going.  I love watching my espresso machine, it make me smile… (Another edit: I gave my espresso machine to my daughter, I am hooked for life on using a Bialetti stovetop espresso maker).

Espresso machine in action

While the espresso machine is doing its job, pop your milk into the microwave for about 2 1/2 minutes or so on 50% power.  Once the milk is nice and warm and the espresso is made, pour both of them into your blender then add in the cinnamon and honey.  Told you this was super simple!

Honey Cinnamon Latte in minutes

Blend for about 15 seconds or so until you can tell it’s getting creamy and frothy…yummmmm…. Pour the latte into your cups.  Almost there – now for a few finishing touches.  Then with a spoon, gently ladle any remaining frothy goodness out of your blender and onto the tops of your lattes.  Sprinkle on a bit of cinnamon and a drizzle of honey – DONE!  So simple, but soooo delicious.

Honey Cinnamon Latte

There is no way this won’t put a big satisfying smile on your face – I promise.

Would you still use a microwave/blender for the milk if you had a steam wand on your espresso machine and, if not, what is the process if you use said steam wand for frothing the milk? Do you add the honey and cinnamon to the milk BEFORE steaming or after?

Hi there Kent, great question. You can certainly use a wand frother to warm the milk (My machine has one I just don’t use it for this recipe), however it won’t blend the milk with the cinnamon and honey very well. The reason I chose a blender is because when you blend the warm milk with the honey and cinnamon, it makes everything really creamy and silky. If you are not worried about that, add the honey to your warm espresso shots, give it a good stir to combine and stir in the cinnamon. Froth your milk with the steam wand and then add to your espresso mixture. Just experiment and see what you like best – the key is to add the honey to something warm so it doesn’t get all gloppy (not sure if that is a real word lol) let me know how it turns out! πŸ™‚

HI – I know, it’s sooo cute!! Sadly the wood handle fell off and I can’t get another one because I got it years ago at Crate & Barrel. If I see another one like it I will let you know!
